The One Ski Method, also known as OSM or monoskiing, is a technique primarily used to teach beginners the fundamentals of downhill skiing before introducing them to two skis. It is based on the work of a German researcher in 1985.

This training method is much easier for new skiers, prompting them to concentrate on controlling one ski rather than two simultaneously. It has numerous advantages, such as improved safety, better speed management, and time-saving.

The method employs a wide single ski with both ski boots clamped to the ski to keep the skier standing. Ski poles are still used, but one training technique uses a single long pole to educate beginners and even advanced skiers on how to initiate a turn, resulting in a faster training pace. The pole, about six feet long, is grabbed with both hands, and one end is used to trace a line in the snow to help make the turn.
